Septate Hymens, Statistically Speaking

What are the odds that a female will be born with a septate hymen? Less than 1%. That's right, girls have a 0.7% chance of being born with a septate hymen which means we're pretty rare.

How rare? Well, when you look at the number of girls who have (or had) septate hymens in the world, we suddenly resemble a small country.

According to Worldometer, there are 7,162,119,434 people in the world and 49.6% of those people are female. That means there are 3,552,411,239 females in the world. Keep in mind this number is always changing as people are constantly being born and are dying.

This means that there are 248,668,799 women in existence today that were born with septate hymens. To put this number in perspective, that's roughly the size of Indonesia - the world's 4th largest country!!!

For all of you visual people...

Septate Sisters, you are not alone. Maybe you're the only one of your friends or peers dealing with your septate hymen but there are millions of girls just like you.

Now...if only we could organize a convention for all 250 million of us... ;)

Much love,

Emily
